Mirlitons (Chayote Squash)
Wow-I had a hard time finding a pic of these..
It would of helped of course had I been spelling it correctly.
From what I understand from a very reliable (and appreciative source) is that these little green beauties are great when cooked, then partially scraped and the refilled with the scraping as well as other wonderful ingredients and then re-baked...
I have gained insightful knowledge that some families have been known to almost go to war over them.....::::laughing:::::....I have yet to experience first hand this wonderful recipe as they do not last long when made and nobody wants to share when it comes to this delicious veggie
They say all's fair in love and war and now i guess vegetable procurement......

AUUUGGHHH...
My day back to work from an exceptional-fantastic and fantabulous 4 day weekend started badly-
First forgot my badge (we have security badges to access some areas of the college), had to go back but then forgot my glasses (i am nearsighted so in Houston traffic that translate to accident) and had to go back yet again...
I get on my way and after I drop my rug-rat off at daycare, I notice I have no jewelry or rings or my watch with me. ***Please note that I am not so vain as to require these things so I did not go back for those but just another thing that irritated me.***
I get to the local gas station-run in for my morning caffeine injection...here is where the fun starts....
I am standing next to a gentleman and we are both doctoring up our coffee..I pick mine up by the lid/top and start to turn to leave the "preparation" area. He starts to scoot over to take my place, knocks over his coffee which splashes down my leg and into both shoes. That not being enough, I falter backwards to get away from the scalding coffee and start fumbling my full cup of coffee (slightly cooler due to ice I put in it). I juggled that for a few seconds (seemed like eternity...like the slow motion action shots in the 6 bizillion dollar man) and finally caught it with both hands!! OMG-shit fire and save matches..that was a mistake!!!! The cup collapsed and coffee ejaculated (always wanted to use that word in a normal sentence...lol) out and down front of my shirt to happily join the other guys already cooling caffeinated mess.
So, here I am drenched in coffee, looking like a half eaten donut at a police convention and the store is filling up with people trying to get their part of the morning "joe". After much assurance to both clerk and clutz..I got into my car and went home, showered in realtively cool water, applied aloe vera lotion and checked myself over for burns. Nothing that I can see that blistered..changed this time remembering glasses but still forgetting jewelry.
I am a little pink but hey, the bright side is that my new piercing got sterilized yet again!!
Now for the "Karma" aspect of this whole morning...I did not get mad really. I was a bit upset and definitely hurt physically initially from the spill and okay I was pissed but definitely said nothing to that effect to either the clerk or the clutz..afterall, if his Tuesday was starting out like mine, he did not need me to hammer him anymore!! I took all of it in stride and told my story to a few concerned folks via text (you know who you are :::hugs:::) and just kept going. Jammed out on the IPOD on the way in..sent smiles to several people as I cut them off in traffic (just kidding-Okay not kidding but I had my blinker on!!) and let my day proceed as normal as possible. Tuesday morning meeting very boring and then settled in to handle the 30 or so give or take a 100 emails I got while gone for a total of 2 work days.
'Lo and behold-I get an email from My Coke Rewards website saying I had won in their sweepstakes. Now I spent several hundred of my well earned "cap" points (each is worth 3 points) entering everyday for about 10 days in that contest. I thought the email a joke and so logged into my account....
I WON A NINTENDO WII SYSTEM...No shit sherlock!! Me, The human Dognut, The walking-talking vanilla latte...
Now I generally have shitty luck at best and never rely on it to help me with anything..but here over the last 30 days or so I have noticed a shift in that overall (not counting the crawfish boil I was a part of this morning but I cant complain-I know someone that LOVES crawfish:::giggle:::). There are some nice things that have happened to me which can be none other than good luck especially after all the bad I have encountered since I broke that mirror seven years ago :::chuckling:::
So anyway....I try my best to be a good person inside and let that govern who I am and what I do on the outside.. I think that is paying off, the least being the NINTENDO WII (LOL) and the most being so lucky to meet some extremely wonderful people (yes, you know who you are-or at least I hope you do-If not, I am not doing a very good job of telling you)..

Like Fine Wine

Okay,
In 2 days and some odd hours, I will have reached my 42nd year as a self sustaining living creature...Yes that is my way of saying it is my birthday on the 27th!!
I am not big into the whole age thingy as it is really a relative thing...My body is older and has generated more body mass but my mind still has a lot of growing to do.
I do not feel older just more wisier and experienced and that can happen at any age dependant upon the situations you find yourself in.
I often meet new people and they make remarks like "wow-you do not look your age" or "I would of never thought you were that old".....Do we suddenly dry up and become devoid of love laughter and life as we get older?? I know people who are like that now and I have a good 20 years already on them.. What does 42 look like? Can someone tell me that? I doubt it because our perspective about age changes as we do (age that is). I remember my sisters and mom at this age and thought to myself that i have forever to go before I get there yet here I am in the blink of an eye. Of course I do not think of myself as sutffy and stale and wrinkly but i did when I was younger.
I think a person's true age is that spark or lack thereof that is in each one of us..call it what you will- a soul, an essence or life force or "spark" but that is how I guage my age. Unlike some other I have met my spark only gets bigger and brighter as each year passes. It started out like a small campfire and is now a forrest fire:::grin::: I cannot ever imagine it not burning more brighter each and everyday I still exist as a walking talking living being. It is like I am getting younger as my body ages..... My love of life and those who share my life only grows more and more despite setbacks like divorce and dating :::LOL::: and children getting older and leaving home.
Anyway, I may be 42 but in my heart I am as young as a newborn and still amazed by the world i live in as if it were the first time I have ever laid eyes on it...I hope that never changes. I want to continue to see and appreciate everything as if it were as young and new as I feel.

I got learned on zippers and wetsuits today

Today I learned that not all Wetsuits come with zipper in back...they have ones that have a zipper in the front also.
Choosing which you want is dependent upon something about gag reflex and knees and chokehold and are things you may want to think about when deciding which to get (front or back zipper)...HEY!! That is from the informational website and not me.
Is it just me or does it sound like they might be talking about a different kind of wetsuit???::grin:: I got this photo from FLICKR (thanks Olaf)
Okay I will get my mind out of the gutter so you all can take your turn...

What is this all about people?
Okay,
Visited an acquaintances blog and Boy is she good-perhaps she and I can team up and start asking those all important questions that are on everyones mind (at least those who have not lost theirs yet..)
Like....what is the deal with the camoflauge trucks around here? Why do the have "monster trucks" when there are no monsters who own them? Paper or Plastic? Braile at drive up windows? Soda or pop? Why DONT guys go to the bathroom in pairs? Who in their right mind actually finds the game of golf relaxing? Why are the zippers on the back and not the front of wet suits ? And finally, how does one end up cloggin a urinal???You know who you are...:::lol::::
Anyway...curious minds want to know and because the National Enquirer has better things to report on like the 2 year old who gave birth to her mom.....it is up to us to find the answers to these questions
